Is anyone familiar with the coach at HC? We have heard some bad things and have not been impressed by his demeanor - Looking to know if anyone has experience with him and if this is the way Holy Cross is.

Thanks.

All I know is that they beat BC yesterday.

ipaytuition,

Truth be told, you only really know about a program until you’re in it. I would caution you about the source of complaints coming from any college baseball program. There are always going to be unhappy players or parents when you have a roster of 35 and only 9 positions on the field. I would urge you to go watch some Spring games or practices to form your own opinion. If your son is being recruited by Holy Cross, I would have your son ask some diplomatic questions of the Head Coach. It is in your best interest to determine if HC is a program for you so you can pursue it, or cross it off the list and go to the next school.

I actually watched a Holy Cross practice in the Fall of 2009. I had some time to kill on a Saturday morning on my way to a college reunion in RI. I was passing through Worcester and I saw HC practicing on their field from the highway. So, I dropped in to see what a real college practice looked like. My son was being recruited by other schools at that time, and a couple in the Patriot League. It was a practice and then an intra-squad scrimmage with some real hands-on coaching from the hitting and pitching coaches. Based upon what I saw, the kids were having fun and the scrimmage was extremely competitve. The head coach seemed in total control of the practice.

Best of luck in your search, and let me know if I can help.
