I think my essay was great as well as my teacher recommendations.
I visited Holy Cross from Los Angeles and wrote about that for the contact supplement.
Supplement on advice was genuine.

I think what got me in the most was my interview. Holy Cross regards interviews as very important in their selection process and got an interviewer that loves concerts and music as much as I do. We had a great hour conversation that I think helped me alot. Also, I visited all the way from Los Angeles primarily for Holy Cross which probably showed my interest in the school.

D got accepted and we are very excited. This is our D number one school. She loves the school. However, we are only excited for about couple of days because now we received her need-based aid/scholarship letter on Friday and she received nothing but $7,500 in loans and $1,800 work-study. I know HC has no merit scholarship but we thought she would receive at least $15,000 a year aid/grant/scholarship. We cannot afford $57,000 a year. That is a lot money for any school. I can afford $40,000 a year but not $56,000. We are very disappointed in the need-based program. D got merit scholarship from other schools. HC says the average student receive around $32,000 a year in aid. Who are these students? Is majority of the students poor and the rest are rich who can pay full amount? We are middle to upper middle income. Who is middle to upper middle income could afford $57,000 a year in a school. I do not get it and I am very angry with their need-based process.
