Im thinking about applying to HC ED. I've interviewed, visited the College and even talked with the soccer coach.

But one of my main concerns is do students at Holy Cross, by their Junior/Senior year, get tired of HC. I know Worchester isn't the flashest city out there so students are mainly confined to the campus. Does it get tiring, seeing the same people and going to the same places. I know Boston is only a 40min drive, but realistically how often are you really going to drive out there.

Also Im a US citizen that has lived in New Zealand for the past 6 years. I have above average grades, attended a Catholic high school and do heaps of ECs. Does my diversity give me an advantage over other applicants?

Comments anyone

I dont speak for Holy Cross…no dog in that fight. But I think your concerns are reasonable. What I mean by that is, your questions are valid to ask.

I am not a fan of ED for ANY college. I don’t like the binding provision. I am much more in favor of EA non binding. Its more just. If Holy Cross has EA, why not opt for that?

Someone asked about Worcester a few days ago on another thread, so check the recent archives on CC for that. Basically, people said its fine. Besides, being a STRONG academic school, you will be plenty busy with school work, plus a few clubs and EC’s on campus. My kid goes to Fordham in NYC and she is in the city a few times here and there but basically is so busy on campus doesnt have too much time for sightseeing and just chilling. Maybe on Saturday’s.

If you are into sports, there will be plenty of opportunity to participate and/or just be a spectator.

Holy Cross is a great school. Good luck

My daughter’s friend at HC did ED and it was right for him, no FA worries, knew he wanted to go, but I think you should be 100% sure.
HC is small, but students seem overall to like having a close group, not so much you know everyone, but faces are familiar and everyone seems very friendly.
My daughter has gone to Providence and Boston with shuttles, they also have occasional shuttles to other places, which you hear about in emails.

She is too busy to think about it very much as ghostbuster commented, even when my son went to a college with a train station 5 minutes away, it wasn’t used as much as I thought. Some students go abroad for a year at HC, another option to get off campus.
Good luck in whatever you do, just be sure.
