Holy Cross Hopeful, with questions...

Holy Cross seems too good to be true.
I'm only a sophmore at a catholic girls' school in CA. currently, I'm at 4.0 gpa / 4.4 weighted. I scored 198 on the PSAT, and a 600 on SAT-II for Bio after Fr year. Here are my ECs--they should help me to frame my questions:

though i like to run 1/2 marathons, i do not participate in sports for my school; though i am a soccer fanatic, i don't play competitive;

i've done quite a bit of volunteer work already for medical/health organizations.

though i have experience at the violin and piano, i no longer play--that is, i am not participating in music at my school.

i've won a State championship in Academic Decathlon (sorry, this brings back wonderful memories), and i participate in our H.S. AcaDeca team.

I've been involved in FIRST Robotics at our school.

I am not involved in student government, nor do i participate in speech or mock-UN.

I am just a good person with good grades, who enjoys everything, but does not participate in absolutely everything. I love to write, love the sciences, and am well-spoken. I am also aware of how self-serving this thread sounds..forgive me for this.

questions:
a.) do I have a remote chance of joining the Holy Cross family?
b.) if so, do i stand a chance of joining the Health Professions Advisory program?

I think you are a slam dunk for HC and they would love to have you join the family!

thank you very much 1980collegegrad. you’ve helped many people with respect to Holy Cross. i think many of us are grateful for your help.
forgive me for asking…the Health Professions Advisory Program… is this the most difficult program to enter at Holy Cross?
thank you once again 1980collegegrad.

Yes it is definitely the most competitive to get in but if you do not get into that program you can still take the courses at HC and if you do well can get in later.

I agree with required_details.

Thank you required_details and 1980. What recommendations would you have for being competitive in HPAP? Are more ECs necessary? Sorry to kick this around so much…

If you are in the top 5% of your class and have done well in your science and math classes you will definitely get in. They want to see a proven track record in the sciences. Two girls from my high school class got in and they are now physicians, one in Seattle and one in Boston. I had a major crush on the one in Seattle ;->

thanks again 1980collegegrad! i sometimes worry that my ECs aren’t solid enough. I feel the need to keep the GPA up to speed. I forgot to add that i sing with a choir group at our school. dont’ worry–i won’t attach a sample of my singing. how early should a hopeful begin to contact the school, visit the school, talk with admissions to show interest?
thanks again 1980, required_details and everyone for being so generous with your time.

I don’t think you need to start the contact until well into your junior year. Also be sure to look into other schools for a basis of comparison.
