Holycross

Treasure trove of info on HC: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-holy-cross/426695-holy-cross-historical-trivia.html

NJmom: Thanks for that. Fordham is a great school! When people make comments about cities or schools they know nothing about I just laugh. No sense arguing with people like that.

BTW I apologize for my flip remark regarding Winston-Salem. You all made valid points and all I can say is mea culpa. I was out of line.

Holy Cross has one of the best pre-med programs in the country and is investing $60 million in new science complex. HC indicates that 86% of its recent graduates were admitted to med school.

The Jesuits are liberal in their approach. But are the students at HC largely conservative and wealthy?

Holy Cross also has one of the strongest alumni networks with an alumni giving rate of 53%. HC is also one of the few LAC's that has produced a Nobel Prize winner-medicine.

I know it's really good for medicine. Which would be easier to get into: Holy Cross or William & Mary(in-state)?

Anyone? How about UVA(in-state) and Holy Cross, which would be easier?

really? what are the comparable stats?

Both great schools but HC's location is only 1 hour from Boston.

school acceptance rate SAT scores Top 10%

W&M 32% 1240-1440 80%
HC 34% 1190-1370 64%

per USNWR

W&M definitely tougher to get in. Margin may be closer for in-state

yeah I quit sports last year....crud. So how about UVA(in-state) and Holy Cross?

Well that stinks.

Yes, I know. Unfortunately the bad part about virginia schools are that they are located in boring towns.

The combination of very good academics and Div1 sports makes Holy Cross unique among top LAC's(Colgate and Davidson also Div1). In addition to a strong pre-med program, HC has produced leaders in business, and politics. Among its alumni are 1 US Senator, 5 Congressmen.

Unlike most selective LAC's, Holy Cross is located near a big city-Boston.

Holy Cross benefits from its Patriot League sports affiliation and close athletic ties to the Ivy League. HC plays Harvard, Dartmouth, Yale, and Brown in most sports each year.Like the Ivies, HC has a great national alumni network.

par72, are you currently a student at Holy Cross?

No; he is a recruiter probably. 95% of his posts contain endorsements/information of some kinda bout HC.

Hah! I just noticed all that...
