M2CK: The closest bank to my house is about 12 miles away. Of course, I live in the middle of nowhere.

Thanks for this thread all. I assumed that since our bank is huge & nationwide that there would be a presence in Tuscaloosa. Um, no. Need to ponder options now, as part of the appeal to having D have a student account at that bank is that I could transfer funds over easily. Ponder, ponder, ponder…

^ to add to the todo list - I called our medical provider and have to fill out form to switch him to out of state full-time student status. Found that 5 of the doctors on the UA Student Health are on our plan, as is the pharmacy (YAY!) set up an online account with all his info since the time to do that is NOT when he gets sick, and also filled out the Pharmacy form to drop off at BamaBound… school has been out ONE day and now I’m really chugging along :)

Were the Bama Bound meetings held in The Ferg last week?

Bamabound meeting started on 3rd floor in a big conference room with student and family. Short meeting then they took the siblings to do their thing. Met there one more time with students. Break out meetings for parents were on main floor just around the corner from the credit union in an auditorium.

One thing a parent needs to do is check car insurance rates. My son does not have a car at Alabama – BTW, he survives without one. When he left for school, I called our insurance provider, and we saw a huge drop in our costs. So keep that in mind when putting together your to-do list.

Ok, this may sound a little selfish, but if someone opens a checking account at the Alabama Credit Union in the Ferg and says that my DS referred them, he gets $25 in his account! Just got the info in the mail yesterday. SOOOOO if anyone is planning on opening an account and wouldn’t mind putting him down, please PM me for his information! Maybe those going to a later bama bound can do the same for your child and we can start a chain reaction!!! Just an idea…We need all the help we can get!
