I applied to 7 schools, these are them in order of how much I like them.
Scripps College ED 2 - Denied
Pitzer College RD - Waiting
Occidental College RD - Waiting (current top choice)
American University RD - Waiting
Lewis and Clark College EA - Admitted with 19K merit
American University of Paris EA - Admitted with 3K merit
Eckerd College EA Admitted with 24K merit
Fingers are crossed for Oxy, American, and Pitzer which all release their decisions the week of the 21st!
Great job and best wishes @helenanca!
I ran out of time to apply to schools (only 3), So far Columbia University ( likely letter) Homeschooled for all 13 years here in NYC .
Wow sounds very promising @luthierman - great job! I love Columbia!
Got my first rejection yesterday - from Northeastern. Still waiting to hear from Sarah Lawrence and NYU. Almost positive I’ll be attending Simmons, though!
Awww sorry about that @rhiannaps - but you have good options it sounds like!
If my son got in everywhere I would worry we didn’t reach high enough.
@SouthFloridaMom9 My thoughts exactly! NEU was the “reachiest” school I applied to, and if I got in everywhere including there, I might regret not applying to some even “reachier” schools. Luckily I think I did fine with picking colleges
I love that @rhiannaps! ^^ =D>
We can now add Virginia Tech to my Ds list of acceptances though it was anticlimactic as she has decided to become a captain at CNU!
Yay, congratulations @HokieMomma17! Still great news to hear. =D>
A little update on decisions:
I got my first rejection! From MIT. It was my dream school but the rejection didn’t really sting as much as I thought it would. I had a suspicion that it wasn’t the best fit for me anyways
But…I got accepted at Northwestern! It’s going to be so hard to make a decision but I feel really lucky to have such amazing choices
I was admitted to American, Pitzer, and Occidental college in the past week…this puts me at 6/7!!! I was rejected ED2 from Scripps on the basis of being a homeschooled student so this just goes to show that homeschoolers can get into great schools!!! I was especially surprised with the acceptance to Pitzer College which has a 13% acceptance rate. I have committed to attend Occidental College as they have the stronger program and I love love love being in the city. LA here I come!
Son was admitted to all he applied, Bowling Green, Michigan State, Eastern Michigan, Wayne State, West Virginia Univ. He is planning on attending Michigan State. He received aid from all non-Michigan schools, and generous aid from Eastern Michigan. The homeschool thing, which we worried greatly about, turned out to be a non issue. He did do some courses at the community college during junior and senior years, and this may have helped, though I don’t know. He looked at other schools, but these were the only applications.
Good luck all!
Yay, congratulations @helenanca and son of @cadteach! =D>
You all have some great results.
Congratulations !
My daughter applied to a wide range of schools, as we weren’t sure about her rather eclectic transcript and she was eager to explore away from home but not sure where or what. So 12 applications! Still waiting on Brown - announced tomorrow.
U of Chicago - deferred EA, denied RD
UNC-Chapel Hill - denied
Washington U, St. Louis - Waitlisted
Duke - Waitlisted
Purdue - Admitted EA, some merit, denied honors college
Rose-Hulman - Admitted EA, merit aid, but we really disliked the school when visited after acceptance
WPI - Admitted EA, merit aid
University of Washington, Seattle - Admitted honors college
Carleton - Admitted
Carnegie Mellon - Admitted Melon College of Science, Admitted College of Fine Arts, and Admitted BXA combo degree science and art!
Stanford - ADMITTED!!! That one really surprised us, we are off to accepted student weekend now.
Congrats to everyone! Some of these acceptances are really amazing.
I’m almost done with admissions. I was waitlisted at Sarah Lawrence (surprised me a bit, I thought I’d get in) and I won’t be accepting. I am still waiting to hear back from NYU tomorrow and that’ll be my last decision!
Congrats to everyone! My homeschoolers are only 11 and 8, but this thread is making me realize that it is totally possible for them to have many options for college. I really would like to continue through high school, provided they are happy with that plan. Good luck to everyone waiting for results tomorrow.
@mom2ponygirl, utterly fascinating admissions results. Congratulations on some great choices!!
That was my son homeschooled last year to a “t”: admitted to one highly selective (an Ivy), waitlisted at WUSTL (can you say “need aware?”), UCLA, and Cal Poly SLO, rejected at four other highly selective (with admit rates of 5-11%), and accepted to all the others with admit rates above 20% including Northeastern, UCSD, U Rochester and UCI.
College admissions are certainly interesting, aren’t they?
Wow @mom2ponygirl - amazing! Congrats!
