Okay in my school there are like 5 guys running for Homecoming King (And 5 girls for homecoming queen, but that's not an issue).

One of them is gay, which I'm 100% fine with

One of them is, (I don't know how to say it in a more pleasant way) mentally retarded. Like his speech is slurred, has IQ below 70, just mentally retarded (the MEDICAL condition). He's the "manager" of the football team and always makes a speech in the pep rally about how much he loves everybody (to which the entire school cheers him on). But running for homecoming king? I just don't know. I don't think it's right. What do you guys think? I feel like he has a very good chance of winning.

I mean everyone loves the downsyndrome kid. (don’t want to call him ■■■■■■■■). we all cheer him on, talk to him occoasionally, etc. I think my school does a great job of treating those kids. But I think this has taken it too far. It’s pushing “equal rights” and liberalness way too far…

Well who is going to tell them that they can’t run because they’re ■■■■■■■■/gay? Do you think you would like to do that? Do you think that’s right?

If you don’t want them to win, just don’t vote for them. Don’t get angry if they win.

The 2 people are RUNNING for homecoming. That doesn’t mean they WILL BE on the homecoming court because people have to vote for them. If the downsyndrome kid is well known around the school (as you said) that means he could potentially win because Homecoming is a popularity contest. Just have fun. You just get your picture in the yearbook.

I’m on the homecoming ballot somehow. Lol. I’ll never make it and it’s ok with me. I’ll have fun with my friends this Saturday (my homecoming).

It’s pushing equal rights too far to let a student with a lower IQ than you run for home coming king? What, is that a position only for “real people”? Please justify why it would be wrong for this student to run.

The only problem that I see is that a lot of people will vote the kid with Down’s Syndrome to humiliate him. I think this happened at another high school, and there was a fiasco over it.

But if he wins and it’s a true win and not a bunch of asses voting him to see him humiliated, then I don’t see a problem.
