Can one put homecoming court or king for an extracurricular ? Does this help or is it like nothing

Uh, no – this would be an award but not an academic award, but definitely not an extracurricular unless your role comes with some type of regular volunteering or work commitment?? Thinking about the Common App, I would guess you could put it under the “Addt’l Info” if you really want to.

It’s kind of laughable information, not academics. It may be a popular contest, that’s all.

It’s as much a popularity contest as class president and colleges tend to value that, so I’d find some way to list it. There’s something to be said for the ability to get elected to anything, even homecoming king.

extracurricular means an activity. I doubt your duties on the homecoming court would rise to this definition. It would be under “awards” – an ultimately spurious one but probably worth listing.

This can be included in extracurricular and comes handy if you are thinking of doing a career in the field of entertainment or showbiz.

Becoming class president involves work/time commitment/leadership after you’re elected. For homecoming king, once you win, you’re done. Thus, it’s not an activity.

List it under awards. Being elected (and popular/liked) says something about who you are…

Good Luck!

I’m with those who say to list it. It adds a dimension to your personality. Put it on your list of awards.
