Homecoming Traditions?

I am trying to encourage my bookish Williams freshman to get out an enjoy life. Are there any should-not-be-missed activities next weekend...bombfires? Rallies? Perhaps a public massacre of the Amherst mascot? Can you recommend a source for unofficial goings on? Thanks!

Going to "The Game" is a must even if you don't like football! It's a great scene.

Thanks for the link!

If he likes soccer more than football (or might prefer a slightly less crowded scene), the undefeated, untied amazing women's team will be hosting the NCAA second round Sat. I think their game starts at 1 PM. It is on the women's field: walk away from the Frosh Quad, past Mission, and towards Pine Cobble. It's a spectacular venue, with mountains visible on several sides. Men's rugby will be nearby playing Amherst as well (I think their game starts at noon - but times should be available on the sports page or the daily calendar).

Back at the football game, the halftime show put on by the Mucho Macho Moocow Marching Band (the crazy Williams scramble band) is always a lot of fun, and it's really fun to listen to them play during the games. They often lead an impromptu parade down Spring Street to the game, which is about as much of a formal tradition as we have (other than the Victory Walk home, with a stop for shennanigans at the barber shop). The real tradition is to beat Amherst, and to heckle them creatively during the whole game. There's often a somewhat "bold" homecoming shirt to buy to help fund some team's spring training trip - a must-have item of clothing in years to come (and they sell out fast if the slogan is witty).

Thanks, Farmfresh. I'll forward your info.
...and I think I want that shirt!
Cheers.
