Homeschool online high school options-Dwight School in NYC now offering Dwight Online School (IB)

FYI for homeschoolers who may be looking at online high school options. The Dwight School, an IB prep school in NYC, has now created Dwight Online School. Their present model involves a number of their courses being offered virtually combined with teacher-supported weekly assignments in a trimester school year.

More information including contact information can be found on their website: https://www.dwight.edu/dwight-global-online-school

But it is not an IBD online, right?

My understanding is that they are not offering the IB diploma online but I would check with the school to be certain.

NYS doesn’t recognize online degrees for homeschoolers. Our regs, NYSED 100.10, lists the options available for students to meet their high school equivalency. They can take online classes, but they still have to do one of the following: take the GED/TASC, earn 24 specific college credits, take several specific NYS Regents, or get a Letter of Substantial Equivalency from their district. NYS colleges can’t accept an online degree.

New York state schools do accept graduates of virtual schools. Check out Laurel Springs: http://laurelsprings.com/academics/upper-school/college-acceptance/ I would check with the school to see if their classes meet the state homeschooling requirements.
