That’s almost what I am saying, Hunt. Yes, stats – really, standardized tests – are very important for homeschooled kids. But stats alone won’t get anyone into HYP, which is what the OP was interested in. So homeschooled kids need to find ways to get third-party confirmation of their abilities and achievements beyond mere stats. School-schooled kids have to do that, too, to get into HYP, but the school context makes it easier for them, especially if its a good school that regularly produces HYP-quality students.

In the end, I think competitions and college courses are critical for homeschoolers. Luckily, for a math-oriented student there are lots of ways to demonstrate his level of achievement fairly easily, including competitions.

EDIT: Cross-posted with Nanotech. Wow. Great demonstration of what I was saying. Clearly a sensational kid, but no lab sciences ever (!), and possibly making a horrible mistake by applying as a transfer rather than as a freshman (!!).

Also, liberationn, I’ll certainly accept WashU as remotely equivalent to Princeton, so consider what I wrote before about SAT IIs corrected.

HYP’s acceptance rate for homeschooled, 3 to5 yearly, from a pool of 150-200 homeschooled applicants, is quite lower to me. With such lower rate, is there any chances for a homeschooled Asian? Has any Asian been admitted to HYP as a homeschooler?

I think the curriculum would matter more PVmusicmom…the more details on your transcript/portfolio, the better.

JHS: i think i would have a better chance as a transfer than a freshman, so i (hope) it’s not a mistake!! i don’t have grades, or AP test scores, or any of the usual evaluation forms of regular freshman, so I guess a good college record would be stronger.

Any chance of getting the information you offered for homeschoolers looking to better their chances of admission to an ivy league school? Thank you for the information.

I am new to this board and it is my first time to post. So I don’t know how it all works yet. I saw your offer for a template for a transcript. Our seventh grade son wants to go to any Ivy Leaque. He says for the libraries. He is very willing to work hard etc. I think we need to see what we need to help him succeed. The template would greatly be appreciated it sounds like it was successful for you. Congratulations!
