Trying for SMU/Baylor/UT-Austin, or maybe some other mid-high tiers with solid programs for my major. Heading into my senior year right now, just worried about a lack of extracurriculars possibly gimping me a bit.

Academic:

4.0 GPA UW (done via co-ops, etc)
~4.2 GPA W (19 comm. college hours by the time I graduate, hopefully/expected 4.0 GPA)
Only AP will be calc because I've taken a significant amount of dual credit instead
2000 SAT (650 CR, 640 M, 710 W, but will study and retake again in Oct. before applying, the 2000 was obtained with literally 3 hours of prep the night before)
Completed state required math + science by age 15 via private lessons with prof. who teaches at UT Dallas and community college. AP Calc will be yr. 5 of HS math.

Just worried about the semi-weak extracurriculars:
~150 volunteer hours
1 yr. yearbook
1 yr. speech/debate (senior, getting into it pretty late, I know :)
Treasurer at co-op's NHS chapter, intending to go for pres next year
TX Boys State 2013
Have had summer jobs and have multiple solid references (college profs, head manager of place I worked at, etc)

Was wondering how I'd place for SMU/UT-A (considering UTA does it by public school class rank it can be difficult for homeschoolers to get in), or even just what tier of college I'd fit into

I dunno man, the homeschool community that I’m in is serious as hell when it comes to academics including ECs, most everyone is juggling athletics/several EC’s and I’m definitely on the lower end of the spectrum.

Of course, I’m not really competing against them because they usually end up going to a Christian school like BJU/PHC, rarely to TCU/A+M, pretty much never to more ‘liberal’ state/ivies.

You have above average stats.
Colleges will not care about you being homeschooled, some of them even have their own online HS (Stanford, for example).
Your ECs are good, not outstanding, but enough. I’d say you could even apply to NYU, Northwestern, Georgetown, or even Cornell as your reaches. Boston University, American U, and Northeastern are matches.
SMU, Baylor and UT are SAFETIES for you.
Don’t settle for easy Universities. Try to get into the best college you can. You can apply to as many as you want.

They do care about homeschooler ECs. And they need ways to assess whether you are both academically qualified AND apt to get engaged on campus and how, whether you will integrate well, etc, since it wasn’t part of everyday school life.

Boys State and the jobs will be good. The dual credit classes show you in a traditional class environment. How the vol works depends on what you actually did. You may also find that something you pursued for academic reasons is also an activity. Point is, you didn’t limit yourself to just studying what interested you. If there is more (local sports, some interest club, something you did for your religious group, etc,) think about including it. Just wrap it all up nicely in the application. Good luck.

At least you got the lower end of your list right. If you are looking for a reach school, take in account the budget as well as geographical preferences.
