Homeschooler from the U.S. applying to Oxbridge?

I was wondering what is the experience like applying to oxbridge as a homeschooler, I haven’t found any information about this. Are homeschoolers even eligible?

As long as you have the appropriate APs, you should be OK, in principle. Homeschooled applicants have been admitted in the past. As a minimum you need three AP scores of 5, in subjects closely related to the subject you’re applying for (but I would caution against taking too many APs and getting some poorer scores as well - you are required to report all scores). Some APs are not accepted as full APs for that purpose because they are less rigorous or cover less material. You would also need to find somewhere you can get to to take any additional required tests.

You will also need an academic reference, which is normally a teacher, but can’t be a family member.

But scanning a few of your other threads, you don’t seem to be sure yet what you want to study at university. You are< i think, only a sophomore, so you have time to refine your thoughts, but if you don’t, this is not the right route for you. You really need to be focussed on the subject you’re applying for at Oxford (or any UK university), because once you’re in, you are locked into studying just that one subject (or combination) - no major switches with few exceptions, no gen ed classes. Cambridge has slightly more opportunities to switch due to the tripos system, but it’s still fairly limited.

Expect also to be full pay - no FA is available for internationals.

The best place to ask about Oxbridge is in the International Students/United Kingdom sub forum; second best is Study Abroad.

Agreeing with @Conformist1688, and doubling down on the importance of knowing what subject you want to study: most people who are successful there genuinely like their subject and are very motivated by it. It is hard to overstate just how intense the work is.

The homeschooling part isn’t a problem, as your AP scores and admissions tests are key, but you do need a LoR from somebody who knows something about your suitability to study that subject.
