Hi, I'm wondering if i have a shot at getting into UR. I love the school/campus and I have decided to apply Winter E.D to hopefully improve my chance of getting in.

My current stats are: 3.72 GPA
1870 Sat.. 650 M, 610 CR, 610 W
ACT Composite 28

Plenty of E.C's including 3 Varsity Sports, Black Belt, Vice President of Senior Class, DECA, FFFE Business Camp Awards, ect, ect

Also have held 3 jobs and have done several Community Service Volunteer projects.

Please give an honest opinion on my chances.

I plan to major in either Accounting, Finance, or Economics.

I’m wondering my chances, too. My GPA is about a 3.7 also, but I have a 33 ACT. My ECs aren’t as abundant (no sports, but President of 2 clubs) and I have 250+ hours of community service in one place since freshman year. Any ideas?

First, my standard disclaimer…I hate the concept of “chancing”! We don’t know what lurks in the hearts and minds of the Admissions folks. I would hate for my words to dash someones hopes or give someone false hope. My experience is from going through the admissions process with my daughter last year. She applied ED and was accepted. She is now loving life at UR. I think I have a little insight on the process from our experience but I am by no means an expert!!

I think both of you have pluses: Dazed has good EC’s while mld has a better ACT. I think dedication to one or two activities is better than a laundry list of things you have dabbled in. I think UR truly looks at the entire applicant though. Your application is a bunch of numbers but your ESSAY is what is going to sell you. It is your one shot at convincing the Admissions department that you are the type of person that they want on campus. Both of you have a reasonable shot at admission. I think ED does give you an advantage. See this blog from the UR website: [Early advantages?
Good luck to both of you! Let us know how things work out!

Are you openly gay? Three of the eight students paraded out to make a presentation on Preview Day were flamboyantly so. If you are gay, make sure the admissions office knows; youll be a shoe in.
