Honest chancing for Columbia?

Hi guys!

I'm a Caucasian male from a public school in rural Georgia. I'm 3rd in my class out of 250.

My unweighted GPA is 3.98; my weighted is 4.4.

ACT - 33
English - 35
Math - 28
Reading - 34
Science - 32

SAT - 2210
CR - 770
Math - 650
Writing - 790

I've taken AP Human Geography (4), AP US History (4), AP English Language & Comp (5), AP US Gov't (5), and I'm currently taking AP Literature & Comp, AP Enviro Sci, and AP Statistics.

I'm first generation. My family makes less than 50k. I'm also gay.

*ECs *- I'm editor in chief of the yearbook -- have been since junior year. I'm also president of Gavel Club (it's a public speaking organization derived from Toastmasters International) and I founded the literary magazine at our school, of which I serve as a co-editor. I'm vice president of Politically Active Students, which I helped found. I also am involved in the Youth Advocacy Board for our county, a group composed of the best high school students in our county who serve as a voice for local youth. I spearheaded a campaign to incorporate a comprehensive sex education plan in our red-blooded, conservative, religious town. I also blog for The Huffington Post and other publications.

I attended the Georgia Governor's Honors Program in Communicative Arts. I was awarded a regional Silver Key in Poetry for the Scholastic Arts & Sciences Competition. I'm an AP Scholar with Honor.

I'm very confident in my essays and supplements, and my recommendations were praise-worthy, lovely, and inspiring.

If accepted into Columbia, I hope to double major in English and Human Rights. I later want to get my M.A. in International Relations.

OK...so can you honestly chance me? Like, flat out tell me what my strengths are and what my weaknesses are. I'm just curious. How do you think Columbia will look at me?

I chance back <3

You have a good shot. Your resume is flawless. That’s all I can say, because it’s Columbia, and like most Ivies, it’s hard to tell. Have you taken SAT II yet?

I would love to say match because you have the perfect blend of a couple of minority traits with great test scores, GPA, and EC’s. But Alas, I cannot with the hard difficulty of the Ivy league.
Columbia: Low Reach
Good Luck!

Your SAT Math is literally the only flaw I see in your stats, and it doesn’t matter as much because you’re majoring in English (and not engineering, for example). What did you get on SAT IIs?
Your extracurricular activities are very impressive though, and they’ll set you apart from other applicants (that & being 1st gen, which the Ivies love). Being from Georgia could also give you an edge b/c of the geographic diversity and the fact that a lot of people from the south probably don’t go to NYC. Because its Columbia, I can’t really say match, but I’d say that you seem like you’d fit their profile. Good luck!! :)

Chance me back?
