I came across this on youtube. Not sure if it has ever been posted here before.
Sound familiar?
Very funny! So true.
That’s UCLA.
I thought this might be a thread about honest things said on tours-- one stuck in my mind (at the school my son ended up going to-- and my alma mater). Prospective student to guide: “Why did you decide to choose this school?” Guide: “Oh, they gave me the most financial aid.”
Now I get, that’s a good reason, but … I can imagine more inspirational answers! But it was certainly honest.
@donnaleighg Better than “It was the only college that accepted me”.
At an Amherst College info session, a parent asked what SAT score would probably result in admission. The admissions official said applicants should be in the 700’s for both tests, 600’s if you’re a good football player, and 500’s if you’re a good hockey player. Quite a murmur came over the crowd, which was addressed thusly: ‘hey, the alumni like winning teams!’.
Pretty transparent, I must say…
You heard that first hand? The stock answer is something about scores being just one factor. Which is the truth.
We went through a dorm on a tour that had signs up about avoiding bed bug infestations.
We went through one where the big dead bugs were evident. And worse. The guide seemed truly enthusiastic and I was rolling my eyes.
