Thanks for your opinions everyone!

oops, forgot to say I also just took the SATIIs in History and Physics (in addition to the Math) in June 2005

You have lowish stats for what I've seen on these boards. I'd work to improve those scores and your GPA. Are you going to play softball in college, if so, what is your position (that can have an effect your admission chances and financial aid)?

I'm not too sure about your chances for everything, but if BU is Boston University, it is definately not a safety.

Does your school have a history of sending kids to some of this schools? Your list also looks a little top heavy to me.

GPA, SAT's not even close to U of Michigan range.

ohiomom- yeah it started off a little top heavy but my gc said that because of my different interests that some of the matchs wouldn't be as much of a reach because I would be a unique applicant (for example umich, fordham). My school has a strong history of sending kids to all these schools except Wash u. (not a lot of interest until now) . for example at Boston University (BU), we've had 46 kids get in in the past 4 years (our average class size is 80), 23 at American, 22 at GWU, 14 at UMICH, and 15 at Syracuse. There were also two people who applied and two people who got in to NU this year.
Katie07- yes I'm potentially (keyword) a recruit at some of these schools but I wanted my stats to be evaluated with not included.

BTW, we haven' t gotten our final junior year grades yet so i'll let you know my final gpa asap (this is just based on my .... 3 semesters at my new school... old school's grades are attached but not included in gpa).

Thank you to all who have replied.

Ok, that's good, your guidance department has connections and the colleges know your school, so your GPA and rank shouldn't be a major issue. Just be careful, though - the admissions are going to be a little harder next year than they were this year. Best of luck to you - and be sure to do a good job on your essays!

thanks ohio mom!

anyone else? bump

I still think your stats are a little low for the schools you supplied
Make your reaches really reaches....
Your Matches reaches
and your safeties matches....
Big public schools like mich and uwmadison are more numbers oriented, so i would suppose you would have a tough time getting in there.....at the private schools you can boast about your ec's a little more and slip by some with the numbers

In any case, i know a kid who didnt get into madison with a 30 act and a 3.4 uw gpa....so dont be so confident youll get in at any of these schools, they are all pretty selective (im applying at umich and madison in fall and i have higher stats than you and am scared about my admission..)

Have you thought about trying get to recruited to play Division III softball? If you've been an impact player on these teams, you might be a very desirable recruit at a number of DIII schools. Some coaches have quite a bit of pull with admissions with their top recruits, others not so much, but there are a number of good-sized DIII schools (Wash U which is already on your list, Tufts, Brandeis, Emory, the Claremont Colleges, etc.). Here are all the DIII softball schools: http://web1.ncaa.org/ssLists/sportByInst.do?sport=WSB&division=3

Look into Chapman University in Orange County CA. It has one of the best film programs in the country. They have broken ground on a new film studies building (the Cecil B Demille School of Film) and it will be state of the art. Some say that it will have more to offer than USC.

Chapman is actually a very popular choice at my daughter's high school. And their softball team wins a LOT of games!

Just Move Bu Up To Match And U Michigan To Reach And You're Fine
