-Currently completing this semester overseas
-Oldest of 6 Siblings
-Both Parents Physicians/Not Applying for Financial Aid (Not that we don't qualify but for other reasons)

Also .... JHU supposedly doesn't give out decisions until the end of May and UVA notifies their applicants on May 1st and responses/deposits are expected by May 15th & sending ANYTHING in the mail here overseas is about 100 dollars per envelope so I really need to make decisions carefully.... plus with my stats, do I even have a decent chance of getting accepted?

If your Stats are correct I think with good essays and recs you could get in almost anyyyyywhere... even though your sats are slightly low... if i were you i would consider some of the ivys... but i dont think you should have a problem with any of the schools you have chosen

Unless they've changed, JHU doesn't require SAT scores for transfer. So you could consider whether or not you want to submit them. You certainly have a chance there, but no one can say how good.

You do need safeties, but you need to tell us what you are looking for in a school before we can recommend any.

I love love love this comment

but I'm not sure parental love of your essays is an accurate barometer of how good they are. I suggest you have someone else review them. Many on the Parent Forum, including myself, are willing to do that via PM.

Heh heh, thanks jmmom for your advice, and sure I'll send over my essays to the parents forum. Hmm, well since Virginia Tech extended their deadline thankfully, I'll apply there as a safety school and if those 2 don't work out for whatever reason (God Forbid..), I can apply to Drexel which has transfer admissions open until 8/15 and offers an arabic and biology program and is in a pretty nice area so that oughta be good.

Actually I called UVa and they told me that I could withdraw my admission, even after the deposit, until the time you enroll, so I think I'll give JHU a shot and also University of Michigan cause I'm not really into that whole arrogant preppy scene, thanks for the remarks though! I'll pm you socal and mightymeals, I think that only applies under certain conditions, like if you get a decent grade on an AP foreign language test or a 650 in the subject test, which I don't have, but thanks for taking the time to say something! .. any other comments? :)

Aww .. where are you now MM? I think the whole deposit thing is just to save you a spot, not like a binding agreement that you have to go .. but you could always try transferring right?

And actually I'm a HS graduate of the 07 class but I had some family problems to attend to while everyone was applying for freshman admission and since I already had so many credits from dual classes & AP scores and random classes taken here and there, I thought I should probably just do 1 more semester and get the associate degree and then work from there so I wouldn't have to re-do all of that work .. actually per UVa and JHU and a lot of other college's definitions, I was considered a transfer student and asked to use the transfer application ... admissions is kinda difficult nowadays eh? so many rules and regulations.

Just double check on the requirements: you need 24 credits of work completed post-high school. AP credit/duel-enrollment credits don't count, atleast for UVa admissions. I would make sure 110% that you qualify as transfer (ie, have taken 24 credits at a CC, that are not part of duel-enrollment)
