I plan on attending NYU and I've heard financial aid there sucks. Which makes me question how other people pay for it, but not just NYU students. How are you affording school? On the track to being in debt till you're 40?

I am here on a full ride. UMich and my school were both essentially free to me, but my other school would’ve had me taking out nearly 60k in loans. Wasn’t worth it.

Primarily mommy and daddy…but also 10k scholarship from my college, and a little scholarship money from my school’s senior awards and a bit of my own money for some books and stuff.

No loans or FA. But a nice 30% tuition cut because of mommy’s job!

I will be graduating debt free boys and girls! And, if I’m either an RA next year, or I sign a contract with the hospital, I’ll have extra money!

I went to community college for two years and left with no debt, and then took out private student loans from chase bank to pay for Michigan to finish my bachelors. Don’t take out private loans if there is any way you can avoid it. They really, really blow. I just only qualified for $6k in federal loans and have no money, so it was necessary.

mostly scholarships and federal grants, some federal loans. no money from parents. i also work full time in the summer and part time during the school year. i’ve got a couple of private loans but they’re tiny (less than $5k all together) and i won’t have to take out any more. my EFC is 0 which helps, haha.

My parents are paying for it.

Mostly loans.

My dad has been in the Navy for 28 years so he has full military educational benefits and he transferred them all to me. So that’ll pay for about 150k of the total price. The rest my parents will cover.

^What an awesome dad.

Me: Outside scholarships, fed grants, schools grants, student + PLUS loans.

Paying for it with financial aid, and paying for some of it out-of-pocket at the moment, since financial aid doesn’t cover it all.

Respect to all of you who took out loans/work multiple jobs to go where you want to go.

This thread lacks financial difficulty and struggle :P

…yeah my parents are paying for it too. This year, I’ll get a little less than $15k in scholarships and the total cost of attendance is estimated around $29k. I was hoping to get a job, but my parents insist I focus on my education.

I have an academic scholarship that covers about 60% of my tuition and my parents pay the balance of the tuition, as well as dorm and meals.

Mommy/daddy paid in full for it. Really not that much for a state school ~17k/yr.

Loans, grants, work, and scholarships. I’ll be about 20 - 25k in debt after college as my parents can’t afford to pay anything. Not that bad considering my school is about 47k/yr

financial aid, loans, grants, and scholarships.

First year I paid everything on my own.
This year I paid tuition on my own, parents paying rent because I had to take classes instead of working this summer.
After this year I am paying everything on my own again for the rest of my life lol.

Sucks cause I am always broke but I feel guilty asking for $50 bucks from my parents let alone thousands.

Daddy pays for tuition cost, room, food and all that. I pay for most of the entertainment stuff like clothes that aren’t necessary, clubbing, partying etc.

“This thread lacks financial difficulty and struggle :P”

I’ll be 50k in variable rate debt when I graduate and then I am going to a top tier law school to be a civil rights attorney. I will be bankrupted within minutes! XD

Getting nada from single parent, though occasionally I receive some extra cash for spending (~$50-100). Hopefully debt will be under $10,000 when I leave. Financial aid covers tuition, but rent, food, and expenses are up to me.
