I am applying Early Decision to Elon University; it is my first choice and I really hope I get in because I can't see myself anywhere else.
Hispanic Male from Virginia.
SAT- M(510), CR (590), W(540). I recently took the ACT; however, those results will not be available untill after Early Decision results are posted.
UW GPA- 3.3 ( I heard Elon has some weighted GPA thng??)
5AP classes, Honors English all four years.
AP Scholar
4 years of Varsity Cross Country and Track, Special Education volunteer( great letter of recomendation from teacher I volunteer for), Freshmen Mentor.
Senior Year Schedule: Spanish V, Physics, AP Stat, Computer Programming, AP Government, and Honors English.

Based on your SAT and UW GPA = NO —

BUT AP Scholar, Volunteer work, great recommendations, and course difficulty = Yes…

So I would say if you can write a great essay that lets them know who you are and that “I can’t see myself anywhere else”. you are likely to be admitted ED.

PS: Elon will weigh your GPA +1/honors +2/AP so use those numbers on your application. Your official transcript will tell the whole story.

Good Luck

NCmentor, thank you for your realistic, yet encouraging reply.

Just to add to ncmentor, Elon also tracks demonstrated interest and takes that into account. Hopefully you’ve already taken a tour, contacted your admissions counselor, etc. If you haven’t, it wouldn’t be too late to reach out. I think once your GPA is recalculated, you’ll have a very good shot. Going ED is a real advantage at Elon. Good luck!

parunner13 - Your welcome, happy I could help.

Your post had me wondering how someone who was an AP Scholar could do so bad on the SAT, so I looked at some of your old posts to see if you explained or if there was anything else that could help you, and I found two posts that confused me even more.

What’s up with the scores you posted in other forums…
