Honestly, what are my chances for UT?

As I was lackadaisical in my attitude toward my studies throughout high school my chances of getting into a good university are slim to none. Without diverging on a tangent, issues such as trying to help a struggling friend with his cocaine addiction, family divorce, and mono during my junior year contributed to my rather poor credentials for college applications. Now that I have turned over a new leaf, i feel that I am ready to tackle the challenges of the college environment. However, I fear that my poor track record will prevent me from attending a good school within Texas or elsewhere. Eyes set on either A&M or UT, it will be a dream come true if I am granted admission to either school. How badly will my horrible class rank affect my chances? What are my chances to get into both universities? Furthermore what universities should I look into applying to for out of state?

Please help me =/

You paint a far more negative picture than what you have. Your extra curr. are very good. Your ACT is good. You have a good GPA except ofr junior year. Write an essay an explain it. I would not rule out getting in to UT. You never know. A&M also seems likely. I would suggest trying to meet with the admissions representative for oyur high school. Perhaps if you can talk with them, put a face to your name, and explain, you might get a second look.

There are many options avail to you if you do not get in. Cap for a year, and then go to UT. You could also look at many good OOS options. Washington, Wisconsin, Maryland, Michigan, all are viable good options for you. Your 30 ACT will help you at those schools. They are cehaper than privates. The list is long for you. Keep your head up. You will be great.

What about A&M? USC, Penn St, UF, UCLA, OSU, Virginia, just to name a few. I think your UT chances are good.
