I applied for the autumn quarter for 2009 on November 30th, 2008 and I still have not heard anything. My current application status is:

We have received all materials required to review your application. Your application will remain in this status until decisions are finalized. We will inform you by postal mail when a decision is made.

I am an in state student with a cumulative GPA of 3.76, with an increasing grade trend. From a 3.2 freshman year to a 3.8 and above each of the following years. One AP class and a couple of honors classes. Taken core classes all four years, no slacking. I also took a Macromedia Web Design class in the summer. I had about 4 people review my essay each telling me I had a way with words.

560M/560CR/480W = 1600 SAT

Varsity football 2 years (honorable captain, honorable mention, Academic award both years), varsity track 1 year, Interact Club member (12 hours), 20 hours at a football youth camp, 3 years working concession stand 1 year working janitorial services

What do you think? I am a little worried about the SAT score...

I think you will be in the regular admit pool for late March/early april. I wouldn’t waste time looking at the MyUW website waiting for changes. I think most of the early admits have already been notified. But overall, I think you should have a good shot…the GPA and EC’s will be a plus.

GPA is good, but I think only one AP and 2 honors classes is an easier schedule than they like to see if your school offers more. That with your SAT makes you borderline, especially this year when they are getting a lot of applications from in-state high-stats kids who are looking for a financial safety.

Though I have only taken 1 AP class, I have taken many “advanced” business classes such as web page and micro comp apps. Along with my courses I believe that my out of school activities played a major deciding role in the classes I took. I do know that EC’s may not be as important as your AP classes. Many students from my school that take all the AP’s don’t have much time to fit in things such as a job like I have.

Just telling you, honestly, what I think (see title of thread), not trying to get into an AP vs EC debate with you. Like Kaykim said, UW is unpredictable, and this year is even more so. You might try putting your stats in to a site like college.mychanges.net and see what their statistics show.

Oops – typo in my previous post. I meant mychances, not mychanges for the web site. The statistics here on college confidential are good, but the % chance is nice to see.

I admit that there are 1500s who get into UW, but then again, I’ve seen 1900s get into Harvard. The point is, I wouldn’t bet my money something like that. It’s FAR too unlikely. On the other end of the spectrum, I’ve heard of people with 3.7 GPA, 1900 (~average) who didn’t get in. Go figure. And if you’re on campus, you would hear about how we’re so full that we’re even blocking out spring app.
