Honestly, I’ve desired college from a young age. Something about higher education in general just appeals to me.

To educate the masses, hopefully in math, that’s my goal.

To educate the masses, hopefully in math, that’s my goal.

Those two countries are on my list because I also wish to fight tyranny (I suppose it’s the Irishman in me). Human rights, hunger, and poverty are my highest priorities, as well. There is much work to be done here (I considered being a social worker), as well as abroad. The fight against this system of affluence and poverty is a global one, so there will be poor people to aid wherever one might be.

As much as I like politics, I have to seperate it from my goals of doing all of this. One of the reasons I don’t think I’ll ever hold office. Much easier to fight poverty if it’s on my terms.

Hm, did I say something political? Oh, the bit about tyranny? Because I’d say oppression in North Korea and Iran is pretty straight forward. It wouldn’t be very safe to travel there to subvert the government, though, but it could be worthwhile.

I don’t think I’d go over there honestly. I lean towards Africa, esp. Sudan, which might be close to Iran and N.Korea in terms of danger.

There are just so many places in need, I would likely end up trying to help people wherever I could.

That’s so true. I guess the first place to start is my home: America. Africa, India, parts of China, Haiti, parts of South America, etc.

It’s pretty overwhelming.

No matter what you do, people are gonna be miserable.

^^Have you read * Mountains Beyond Mountains*?

^^^ Sad but true.

^^ Sadder and true.

Some, but I may be able to save/improve some lives.

Nope.

I think that you would enjoy it. You can scroll down to view the reviews.

^^ That’s what keeps me going. Can’t save them all, but I get some. Some > none.

Hahahaha. From the reviews, this does look good.

If enough people help some people, then everyone will be helped. And then there are those few who help many people, directly and indirectly.

The issue is getting people to care. People at my school are so superficial and self-centered and just plain stupid.

A great many people I know are like this, as well. But as long as there is a significant minority dedicated to the rights and needs of humanity, the cause will not be lost.

^Exactly.

I feel you guys, joining the peace corps was the first ‘career’ I ever wanted. Now I want to go to college for international development. I hear its really hard to actually get into the peace corps before college. Otherwise, I’d probably be doing that first.

"^^ That’s what keeps me going. Can’t save them all, but I get some. Some > none. "

It’s like that story with the girl and the jellyfish. You guys know that story, or is it just me?

I think it might be just you.

^^^ I don’t think the significant minority is being paid much attention.
