I think you should abandon the percent thing. You can't objectively gage a percent off of qualitative data. Anyway, I think you've got a shot, although the essays should be more than decent. Just work on those a bit and you'll have a good chance.

OK let me just say this
ur scores, e.c. its all there and all is well
a problem? small one i guess. it is the fact that u look like a typical azn candidate, meaning really great scores and e.c.'s
now im not sure if jhu has this kinda agenda, but some schools dont wanna see that "typical" azn. they wanna see something that stands out like high verbal, writing or sports or lots of leadership (not saying u dont have these, im just pointing out). if u have something that distinguishes u from this "typical azn-ness" i suggest u write about it

o, dont find this offensive cause im an azn that got into jhu. but, i may be totally wrong about this thing lol

you are pretty close to what i was...

the thing i believe the most about college admissions is that the top 25 USWN&R are really whimsical and mysterious. Most kids have the numbers, but what I would stress is your voice. If you find your voice, find what you want to say, then if the college like you what they hear, they'll take you. If they dont, they dont like who you are, and who wants to go to a college that does like them right?

Say what you want to say in ur essays, the college that listens will take you, the college that doesn't, nothing will change their mind.

Last year during orientation, one of the speakers said that they don't consider a person's homestate in his/her application. They said something along the lines of "we don't care where you're from, we chose the people that would succeed the most at Hopkins."
