ive been meetin HKers all over cc and thought, why dont we have our own thread :) tell us which highschool or uni you go to! HKers rock!!

LOL hear hear, Hong Kong DEFINITELY rocks!!!

waves Actually I haven't been living in HK for the last 8 years. When I was there in primary school though, I went to St. Paul's Convent. Applied to some UK and US colleges. That's it about me for now! See you guys around!

hey..ppl. Just want to get some info...

i applied to HKU also besides US to do Economics. How difficult is it to get in ? and how good is HKU ?

thanks

HKU is pretigious in hk and probably well known too in asia... it's not too difficult to get into the econ department provided you have not bad grades. but i'd say that HKU isn't exactly intl student friendly, but if you speak chinese (even mandarin) and read chinese alrite that wouldnt be a big problem

Hi all I'm from hk too! Just got rejected from oxford, edinburgh, glasgow, university college london, imperial, penn, berkeley and most probably chicago!
jurily, I heard that you are going to sit your a-levels right? Good luck this friday!

hahaha! many propz to this thread!!! I am a hong-konger and wish to see more hong-kongers! I got accepted by Tufts, Wisconsin and UCSD, still wavering about where to go. I am now negotiating finanacial aid with Tufts. If I am lucky enough to get the grant, i will most probably go there. I am really curious abt who else got accepted by Tufts and would probably enroll (though i would find out on 14/4 which is the Tufts Reception Day anyway) haha! So happy to make new friends via CC Forum. Jurily, Coniziwa, great to know you guys!yay~~~~ =D

woohoo :) we have our own thread! i've been in hong kong my whole life... went to local school until primary 6 and then to an international school. I got rejected from harvard and cornell and accepted to Brown, duke dartmouth tufts wellesley WUSTL and others. bluetypo you know where the tufts reception is held?

hiya! from hong kong too! :)
got into tufts, rice, carnegie mellon ... and a couple of other places in the US.
so which schools dya guys go to?
oh jojomojojojo... the tufts reception is at the helena may (think thats on garden road)... will you be goin to it?

WAHHHHH~~~~~~~ Many many congrats to jojomojojojo and chirag!!!!! haha jojo, you applied to so many schools!! I currently study in a local secondary school and the max number of uni that i am allowed to apply is six! Once I am rejected by certain schools, the choice will be quite limited...sigh.... anyway, the more the choices, the bigger the headache when it comes to the decision time.
So jojo and chirag, are you going to attend the reception? Hope i can meet you there haha! yah, it's at the helena may, i guess you guys should receive a invitation email:

"The Tufts Alumni Admissions Committee of Hong Kong

Hong Kong

RSVP: Shirley Chen 2896-8101
or shirleychen@fowind.com.hk"

By the way, to HK ppl here: which school would you like to attend? =D

i got into ucla n wesleyan and im goin to wes because they offer me full scholarship :) i wonder if they have a reception in hk too, it must be nice to attend one of those admitted student receptions! do u have to accept the offer to attend? i wanna know if ucla has one too

hi! it's so great to meet HK ppl here =) I am from a local school in HK. have been admitted to wisconsin and NYU's gsp, and waitlisted by several schools=( have to wait for one more month for the final decision ><

so for you guys who got into Tufts, did u do an interview?
i was interviewed by Johnathan dworkin, maybe we had the same guy. anywayz he called me up to congratulate (sp) me on my offor and tell me bout the reception.. got that email too.

will most prolly go to rice though, cause its offoring me 50% scholarship.
never expected so many Hk peeps would use this forum

yea i think i'll go to the reception at helena may (is it a residential complex? sounds so weird). i applied to 12 schools out of insecurity cuz i got deferred from brown first... now i have to choose among soo many... anyhow i'll see you guys at the reception

haha hope I'm not interrupting the Tufts discussion here but just to jump onto the "what school did you apply" bandwagon:
applied to UCL, LSE, edinburgh, warwick, KCL and dundee. Accepted by all. But I want the liberal arts education in the states! :(

to chirag: I was interviewed by Jonathan Dworkin too! but I got waitlisted by Tufts

leigh787 - what course did u apply for in the UK? i appled to schools in the UK too, cause i do A-levels anywayz. am considering Imperial for engineering.
coniziwa - best of luck!! hope ur decision comes through quickly!

I applied to read psychology in every uni except KCL (business mgt). The one at edinburgh is a direct masters in psych and biz mgt. So maybe it's not as competitive as getting into its medicine fac! Good luck with Imperial. It would be so great if you could study engineering there!

Wish more HK fellowers join this thread!!! =)

Hey Chirag, since you have already made up ur mind to go to Rice, are you coming to Tufts Reception? =D I guess you need to do your Alevels right? Me too. Good luck this Fri!

I am still undecided. I like Tufts because of its small size (compared to public uni) so that i can get better interaction with the profs and students there. But then going to Tufts will cost me lotsa $$ (~US$46600 per yr) @_____@ Wisconsin will cost me less i guess, but it's still quite expensive. i am wondering are there any scholarships that i can apply via any agencies? I would like to know where i can "raise $$" for my tertiary education. I would be really grateful if anyone could give me a bit of advice. Thank you!!

WOW 46600!! thats almost 5k... i thought wes' expensive but apparently tufts' ultra expensive. have you included transportation and spending already?
