honor classes

What's the difference between an honor class and a regular class? For example, Orgo chem and honors Orgo chem.

honors classes are smaller, usually intended for majors, go through more material in the same amount of time, is usually more challenging, and the mean is higher. i think that's about it.

Some majors require that you take the honors version of a course.

The only two I'm familiar with is gen chem and orgo. You should def. take honors gen chem if you are planning on being a chem major. Honors orgo is much smaller than the normal orgo class (40 students per class compared with 600 students) so it's a good class to get to know your professors and get more individualized attention.
