Honor Cord for December Graduation

I will be graduating as an English major in December, and I had a few questions. I know that in the Spring departmental ceremonies, some people are awarded golden honor cords for completing the honors requirements within their major. Since I won't be attending a department ceremony, only the campus wide on December, what are my options for wearing cords? Are cords distributed to people to wear on general commencement for having a GPA at or above the "honors" level (I think it's like a 3.715)?

Also, how would you purchase a cord like this? Can anyone just get it at the student store?

You get it at the student store. I don’t know if they give cords for people getting honors in general scholarship; I wrote an honors thesis. They asked me which department I was in, checked my record by sliding my CalID, and sold it to me at a rip-off price (I think it was $16?).

according to this: [Advising Help Desk ? Academic Standing | College of Letters & Science](http://ls.berkeley.edu/?q=advising/helpdesk/standing)

Under Sample timeline for coordinating a commencement ceremony for your department: “Departments determine honors cord eligibility. All students with cumulative or major GPAs above 3.5 is typical, though some cords are reserved only for students who write honors theses. Fax the honors cord list to Cal Student Store Special Services department so they know which students can buy them, or have the department purchase all the cords for distribution to eligible students.”
