Honor Program - Worth It?

Hello! I am a high school senior attending UMN next year and I was accepted into the University Honors Program for CEHD. I know it is generally well liked by students due to the smaller class size and community aspect and the research part. However, I’m not sure the research part will be super applicable to me with an education major. I’ve also heard that it’s often a hassle trying to schedule all of the requirements. I’ve always pushed myself very hard in high school and was ready to relax a bit in college, but I also received a UHP scholarship that I assume I only receive if I’m on the program, so even opting out in the future would cost me. Basically, I’m struggling to make a decision about it. My main question is this: Is the University of Minnesota’s Honor Program worth the scholarship that comes with it? Thanks so much for any help!!!

Even w/o the scholarship the benefits of Honors is worth it for precisely the reasons you mention: smaller class size, community aspect, opportunity for research. But how about this: since you are attending UMN anyway, why not stay in honors college as long as it works for you? Who knows - you may opt to do graduate work in education and want to apply to top ed. schools. That research paper will come in handy for your application.
