Can someone please tell me some Honor Programs I can apply to (preferably strong in engineering and sciences) who will provide a lot of financial aid to internationals? Stats are SAT: 2110 (CR: 710 Math:780), 3 subject test, all over 760, highest GPA in class, and great EC's)

For guaranteed aid, I believe you would get full tuition at University of Alabama for your 1490 M+Cr score. Also you would get an additional $2,500 per year if you enroll in engineering. Please visit the UA forum here to see what opportunities the students are getting. That is the highest ranked university with an automatic scholarship that is open for internationals and is a very good deal. You can apply now. The application is online and very simple and you will very shortly have an offer. They do have an Honors College and dorms. This is based on merit (meaning your gpa and sat) and not family financials.

For other colleges, you have to apply to see. I don’t know what to suggest, hopefully someone will come along. Many state colleges that are strong in engineering won’t be giving much money to internationals. Some upper tier colleges don’t give merit scholarships at all, the aid given is based on need, so your family financial situation will matter for that. Please clarify if you are eligible for need based aid or if you need merit only scholarships. How much does your family plan to pay per year?

$20,000 (Pretty Low)

Montana State University may be affordable although IMO the University of Alabama is a better school.

I don’t necessarily need one that garuntees me admission, just one that I can apply to, and if I get in, I’ll get the financial aid I need (merit or need-based)

Again, Alabama has very good engineering, and you would get free tuition plus $2500 per year. At a minimum, this could be a safety for you. Your remaining costs would be less than $20k.

alabama has a very good honors program.

Are you going to apply?

Yes, I am. Do you apply as a regular applicant and then get in to the Honor’s College? I would also like to apply to other Honor colleges too.

Bump Anyone one know how I can apply to Alabama’s Honors college? Anyone know any other Honor colleges that give aid to internationals?

I go to Alabama’s Honors College application site but it keeps asking me for username and password. Can’t find the play to register at

You have to be admitted to UAlabama first.
