<p>I have received invitations to honor societies but I haven't joined any of them because I heard it's not really worth it. I remember hearing that putting down you were invited looks no different than joining them since the people they invite would automatically get in anyway. </p>

<p>Not really. Phi Theta Kappa is a perfect example. If your GPA is more than a 3.5, you’re in. It won’t boost your application unless you decide to take part as an officer.</p>
<p>Even joining isn’t very helpful unless you do something with it…it could be worth it if you choose to be an active member. Otherwise, it’ll just be repetitive info for admissions staff since a lot of these honor societies just invite based on specific GPA cutoffs.</p>
