Honorary Scholars Program?

I'm planning on applying for the Honorary Scholars Program at Wash U, and keep going back and forth between the Compton and Moog scholarships. Since I'm planning on double-majoring in English Literature and Environmental Studies and my independent research pertains directly to a pressing environmental plight, I was wondering if there are any advantages/disadvantages associated with either Compton or Moog (other than the fact that Compton is related more to the physical aspects of environmental studies, and Moog to the biological aspects -- in all honestly, I don't really have that much of a preference between the two disciplines (and the scholarship does purportedly follow the recipient regardless of eventual major choice)).

Essentially:

1) Do more applicants apply for Compton or Moog? (I know WUSTL has a strong reputation for being a premed magnet, so would it suffice to say that more applications would pertain to biology/chemistry (Moog) than to physics/math (Compton)?)

2) I'm hoping to be considered for the Pathfinder Fellowship (the Pathfinder program is one of my main draws to Wash U) -- any statistical advantage between Compton and Moog?

3) I was given a travel grant to visit Wash U a couple of months ago, and discussed with my admissions interviewer the possibility of applying for the University Scholars Program in Law (since I'm hoping to pursue a career in environmental law) in addition to the scholarship program. I still intend to apply for both programs, but do you think that this could potentially work against me (meaning that they could be more likely to give me the USP in Law, since there's no guarantee of a scholarship to accompany it?)?

4) Are credentials (relevant courses, AP scores, etc.) taken into consideration for scholarship receipt, or is it primarily based upon the contents of the five submitted essays?

Alrighty. Thanks so much for the help (and sorry for the lengthy post) -- I know that it may seem that I'm simply trying to overthink the system, but WUSTL really is my first choice in schools, and the only way that I'd be able to attend would be with at least a half-tuition scholarship. (Hence, my paranoia :-s )

Question: For your recommendations, are you just resubmitting the commonapp one? Or is your teacher writing another one using the form online?

I provided my teachers with the paper forms online and basically gave them the option of writing a new recommendation letter altogether or simply submitting another copy of the one used for the commonapp. To be perfectly frank, I don’t really know which option they ended up choosing. :(

Which scholarship program are you applying for?

bump . . . anyone?
