I know this is an overposted topic, but I was just wondering if anyone else had heard from the Honors Program, other than Maximus. I haven't heard anything and I was just wondering if being OOS had anything to do with it, or if I should go ahead and brace myself for rejection.

Oh, Maximus, congratulations to your son. Hopefully I'll see him at UNC this fall.

Yes, I got my Honors Program invitation on Monday or Tuesday. As for stats - 4.0 unweighted (not sure about senior year) at a competitive high school. SAT - 800 M, 760 CR, 760 W. No major awards or hooks. Pretty solid EC's - you could look at one of my previous chances threads. I think probably pretty decent recs.

Does anyone know about scholarships? Was January 25 the only scholarship day?

I have a 1520 and didn't get into the Honors Program but a friend of mine with a 1490 did, so I don't think that's the main deciding factor. I'm not bitter though, it's just one of those things. I'll just have to write a thesis.

I received my letter Tuesday regarding honors. Admitted OOS early notification. Still no word on scholarships, though, which is a bit disappointing.

S2 has SATs over 1500, great ECs and grades, got a likely letter before Christmas, and early acceptance, but no Honors invitation. Could affect his decision, as he has received honors at his other two schools, one with a lot of money. We'll see...

^^^That may be true but most of the money has been allocated with the exception of Robertson and Moorehead decisions for EN applicants.

irish, We're dealing with the same dilemma. It's a soul searching decision that is made even more difficult by the uncertainty of these economic times. If you believe the top fifty schools in the US all provide an excellent educational environment and opportunity, it's might hard to pass on a free ride.
