Honors and AP courses

Wondering if the CSU system takes into account the AP courses, and passed AP tests for admissions? I see somewhere it says extra points, but what does that translate to?
Also, it would be “college credit” how does that work as an incoming frosh?

AP courses taken in 10-11th get an extra honors point/semester in the CSU GPA calculation with a maximum of 8 semesters.
AP credit is given for scores of 3 or higher on the AP exam ( school dependent). My son received 38 units of credit as an in-coming Freshman which allowed him to opt out of 5 classes required for his major.
Check each schools website for the AP credit available. Here is CPP’s:

During Freshman orientation, the school should give you packet outlining what credit is given for which courses.
