Honors and Awards Cap

Hey guys, so as many of you may have encountered, the Common App places a limit on the amount of honors/awards that it allows you to add to your application.
For those of you (I’m sure there’s many) who have more, how did you prioritize which awards to add?

Obviously, obvious major awards take priority, but most non-major awards seem very subjective in terms of how impressive they are. In general, would it be better to list awards that are concentrated in one area (to show dedication, I suppose?) or diversify and list a bunch of awards in completely different areas? Also, is it worth putting any of the National/AP Scholar with honor/distinction awards, now that colleges can see self-reported AP scores and know by those scores alone exactly which of those AP awards you automatically received?

and, of course, is there a way to bypass this 5 award limit that I’m stupidly ignoring? I thought about using the additional information section, but it seems kind of pretentious to be using it just to add more honors and awards

Thank you!

I used the additional information section for the minor awards and listed awards that I thought were the most significant to me/my future major, including AP Scholar, in the 5 boxes.

Thank you! Yeah, putting the awards that I can’t fit into the additional info box is what I should’ve probably done as well. Too late for EA, but not too late for RD
