what kind of stats did you need for the $8000 scholarship?

^ Good question. I’d love to see someone who got it post their stats here. I know one of my friends said she got it and she has a 4.0 FSU weighted GPA and a 28 or 29 SAT score.

I was accepted into honors with a 4.0 weighted FSU GPA and a 30 ACT Superscored

I just received my December SAT results, and I got a 1970… a score which would have qualified me for the honors college without a petition portfolio, and have given me higher stats than one of my friends who received the 21st Century scholarship.

I guess time really is key. =/

Dnerd,

You can’t just send the scores in? If you petition for admission, does that mean you can’t be honors the first semester?

Congratulations on the score!

did anybody get the oos tuition reduction scholarship?

I sent them in, but they already sent out all of the honors college invitations. The website says that all admission notifications for those who petition to get in will be done sometime in or before April, so I guess I’ll still be in it the first semester.

Thanks though

Oh, OK Dnerd. I was mixing up schools. The petition seems like a pain, but I’m sure you’ll get in. My daughter would love the honors college, but seems to have maxed out her ACT ability at 27 (superscored). She’ll take again in February to try for bright futures. Maybe the abiltiy to petition for honors college will spur her to study and get the elusive 28. She’s closer on the SAT but hates it so much that she won’t take it again.

Oh, well good luck to your daughter!

I just called and a lady on the phone told me that as soon as they received my December SAT score (it was sent yesterday, but they don’t have it yet), to call them back and they might be able to “work something out” since a lot of the people who qualified for the scholarships might not be attending.

DD got into Honors but no money offers. Are they done with scholarship awards?

i hope theyre not done handing out scholarships. by the way, if a lot of people dont take their scholarship offers will they still be willing to offer money to other students who did get anything the first time around?. i would have to petition for honors (28 ACT and you need 29)

Check your admissions status again if you haven’t done so recently. Some more came out today around 6.

nope still nothing. oh well i probably should have taken act again since i havent taken it since june. that probably would have gotten me into honors and some scholarships, lesson learned the hard way.

Just found out D got the 21st century scholarship and admittance to Honors college… found out about scholarship on her admit page. They did not sent us anything in email or in writing about scholarship. We did get email for Honors nothing from snail mail yet. Thank you to Dnerd for telling us about going back to admissions page. It was there

^ No problem.

Good news for those who took the December SAT and improved significantly… If you now meet the honors college invitation requirements, all you have to do is wait for them to receive it after the break and get in contact with one of the honors admissions officers. I emailed about it awhile ago and just received a call from a Mrs Koffman (sp?).

you think id be able to take the next act (i have 28 as of june) and could still get some moneyyyy or honors?

You can probably still get into honors via petition anyway (it’s a relatively short process), and that way you wouldn’t have to pay to retake it. But yes, your superscore would likely increase to a 29 if you did take it again. One of my friends who received an honors invitation and $8,000 scholarship had two 27s, but superscored as one to get 29.

yeah i guess im more concerned with the money than honors. probably by the time they get my next score all the scholarships will be handed out already and ill get nothing but a waste of 50 bucks or whatever the act costs.

yeah ill petition, id just like a nice chunck of change to go along with it. man now that i think about it i should have kept taking it, but bright futures was the goal and once i got that i didnt know what it would take for an fsu scholarship. by the way, i suffer from first child syndrom so im used to being the guinea pig

To get the scholarships that were mentioned above (21st, Freshmen University etc) do you have to be classified as a florida resident? I submitted my affidavit but it hasn’t been updated on my status page.
