Honors and Greek life

We have been told that the Greek community is very active at UNL. My son would like to be in the honors program but wants to know if he would be able to live in a fraternity? I also should mention that for scholarship he must maintain a 3.5 gpa.

I don’t think schools require students to live in the honors house, dorm, or community, but it’s available; you do need to check UNL’s rules.

My daughter’s roommate is in the honors program at another school, there is an honors house, but she wanted to live in the regular dorm. My niece, at yet another school, is in honors and chose not to live in the honors dorm.

I know nothing about that university or its fraternities. But I can relate my daughter’s experience at a different university. She was in a sorority and, although she did not live in the sorority’s house, she was a very active member. In addition to participating in lots of sorority activities, the members were required to spend X number of hours per week (sorry, I can’t remember the number) studying at the library and there was enforcement of this requirement.
