I just received the message saying I was not accepted for the honors program... How much will this hurt my chance of getting into a medical school?

It actually shouldn’t hurt you at all. Being in honors does have its benefits, but there are lots of med students who aren’t/weren’t in the honors program. But, you can always try again next year based on your GPA if you really want to do it.

Don’t be discouraged!

Med school is based off your GPA.
Nothing else matters as much. It might have an effect depending on what kind of med school you apply to, but it is generally agreed upon that GPA is the most important factor.

GPA, MCAT score and interviews…assuming you have everything else. Honors is not essential. You can petition for later entry, however.

If you still want honors…Take at least 12 credit hours and achieve a 3.8 or above the Fall semester of your freshman year and you will receive an auto invite for honors.

I knew i would have to do the 12 credits and achieve the 3.8 (is that hard to do btw?)

but i can petition again?
