Honors and Ross PA???

Hi everyone. So i applied to Michigan Early Action (still havnt heard anything) and i also applied for Preferred Admission to Ross. I was reading about the Honors program online and it said that they only invite people to apply if they have designated a strong interest in an LSA major. I'm undecided, but when i went to the info session on campus, she told us to apply to the Ross PA even if we weren't dead set on business. Regardless of whether or not i get accepted to Ross PA, would the fact that i applied for it make them not want to invite me to apply to the honors program because they think I'm 100% business focused (which im not)? Also, if I am admitted to Ross PA, do I have to join no matter what sophomore year? If i take classes freshman year and decide i would rather pursue an LSA major, would they still allow me to?

I really really like Michigan and I'm instate, so I hope that this doesnt create any problems for me because the Honors Program sounds amazing and my counselor thinks Im definently qualified to be accepted to the honors program. (Valedictorian, 4.0 GPA, 34 ACT)

Im undecided between a Pre-Law and Pre-Business track btw. Also, is it possible to do a double major with Ross and LSA, or a major in Ross and minor in LSA and still graduate on time??? If I only had a minor in LSA, would they still let me join the honors program?

I know i asked a lot, so even if you can't answer all of my questions, I'd appreciate any input. Thanks!

I can answer one of your questions. You can decline admission to Ross before your sophomore year if you are a freshman pre-admit. You have to confirm your interest/apply after your freshman year and if you have met the qualifications of required classes and GPA, that is when you are actually admitted to Ross. You also can say you are no longer interested and give up your spot.

stewta4 - with your stats, you will likely get in to Honors if you apply. The Ross preadmit app won’t hurt you. But, you’ll have a good chance on Ross preadmit as well.

I was a freshman that was recently admitted to the university of Michigan-Ann Arbor for the pre-business major(LSA) 2013 fall program

I heard of that we have to test again in order to get to business school in the second year

Is the test really hard?
Should I consider other schools because of this?

Btw I was admitted to the university of Wisconsin-Madison too

Please give me some advice !

You can definitely decline admission to Ross after freshman year even if you are a preadmit. You can defintely be in honors LSA for freshman year before you transfer to Ross. You can’t double major Ross and LSA because they are different colleges - you would have to attempt to obtain a dual degree. The dual degree sounds enticing but it is difficult to pursue and most students choose one or the other. My personal opinion is that the dual degree is not worth the effort and if you want to do both you are better off going the LSA route and pursuing a MBA a later time.

There are a few people living on my floor who got accepted to Ross pre-admit and are in Honors. I know at least one of them is declining to actually attend Ross. So there’s the answer to your question.

It might be hard to get into Ross if you didn’t apply by Nov 1st.
Here’s a quote from the Ross website:

“We give preference to applications completed by the University of Michigan’s Early Action deadline, November 1. We consider applications completed after November 1 only as space permits.”

Thanks a lot

Btw does getting into Ross mean earlier graduation from college ?
Can’t I just study in LSA for pre-business and graduate in a regular time?

A degree from Ross takes three years but you spend a year in LSA before starting it. So you still spend four years obtaining the MBA.

When should we (potentially) get the letterinviting us to apply to the Honors College? And we won’t hear from Ross for a while, correct?
