thanks for letting me know details. Nothing today but I live in small town pop. 4000 an hour South of Macon so it would take at least one more day to get to me. If you had said somewhere south of me like st simons I would have worried. Still anxiously awaiting Monday though. Will keep you posted. Again, CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Upsidedown - CONGRATULATIONS!

We got the magic letter! Good luck to everyone!

Congratulations upsidedown!

congrats md1785. For those of us who got nothing in the mail today, would you please mind sharing your stats and where you live ( to see if it would take longer for mail to arrive in our city). CONGRATS!!!

Marietta - 3.9 GPA, 8 AP’s, 34 ACT

Anybody north of Atlanta got anything yet?

Alpharetta
7 AP exams taken, 7 passed
4.1 GPA UW
33 ACT

A friend just told us that his daughter got the letter as well.

Go Dawgs!

Congrats to all so far! So happy for all of you! Hoping to join you. Stats are a little lower than all posted. 4.0 gpa, 1510 SAT and only 4 AP classes taken through junior year (this was all offered by my school including taking sr level class my junior year-AP stats. Only person in class who did this and passed). Passed all exams taken. Taking 4 AP classes senior year. Five offered but wanted Physics instead of AP Biology. So, have taken almost all- but not all- Ap classes offered at my school. Do not know if that will matter. Lower SAT than you guys. Nervous. Keep your fingers crossed. Live in very small town about 3 hours south of downtown Atlanta so it does make sense that I would need at least one extra day for mail to arrive. Will be waiting anxiously for 3:30 Monday when mail comes. Hope it is not late! I think Michigan and I are the only two left waiting on this thread and everyone else so far has been accepted. Hope the tide continues in that direction! Will keep you posted and congrats to members of Honors class 2013!!! So happy for you guys!

We are just east of Atlanta and have not heard either. From previous years the honors
program has a set of cutoff scores that determines who makes Honor’s. It was 1450 and a 4.2
in previous years. Glad to see some Gwinnett county people who can only get a 4.0 maximum
from UGA. Our county adds 10 pts onto AP classes also. I was afraid that would hurt us.

So if you have below a 4.0, you’re probably not getting in?

I am confused. gaonmymind- have you gotten a letter yet or did you post stats and are still waiting like the rest of us? Now I am thinking there are still 4 of us on here waiting- socialdramamama, gaonmymind, michiganga, and me. Plus I have 2 friends located in Perry and Statesboro that have 4.0, 1500/1540 SAT and 5/8 APs. They also received nothing yesterday.

Does the honors auto admit show up on the status link anywhere?

How is it possible to have over a 4.0 UW?

it does not show up on the status. Invitations are sent only to those invited to the program. Those who get over a 4.o are the ones who get extra points added by UGA- anyone whose school adds points for AP classes cannot get over a 4.o from UGA- even if they did not need the points to get an A in the AP class. Kind of hurts the kids with higher grades that make As in AP classes on their own and without points added.

Thanks, I don’t quite get how they do this, but I suppose they have to have a method to process the huge numbers of applications they get, and this is probably the best one. As far as I can see from the application, the GPA calculated on the application is 4.0 max, but the weighted one is calculated by the school. Do they look at the transcript for the weighted GPA or just auto admit from the UW one on the application? It’s confusing, and yes, not fair to schools like yours that cap the GPA at 4.0. I suppose if students from your school fill out the additional honors application UGA will take a closer look?

Still waiting.

yes but I think honors takes into consideration that a 4.0 is the highest those kids can get so it is a 4.0 out of 4.0. My son 2 years ago got an auto admit letter with a 4.0, a550 and 7 out of 7 AP classes. My son who is a senior now has slightly lower stats- 4.0, 1550, and 8 out of 9 AP classes (school has added 2 AP classes since last son graduated). So actually I am not concerned about the 4.0 itself because that in conjunction with other stats got my other son in. But, with lower sat and not taking all AP classes, combined with a max possible 4.0 gpa, this is the reason for my anxiety about whether s2 will get an auto admit invitation. Sure hope so!

good luck gaonmymind! You have excellent stats! We will talk tomorrow and hopefully have good news!

Good luck to everyone and go Dawgs!

Still waiting here as well - Georgia Coast. 1520/2290 SAT, 12 APs, 3 Dual Enrollment, 3.92 UW GPA and 4.0+ weighted, not quite sure how UGA will calculate that.

Gasenioryear, GA onmy mind and Islandboy- those are fantastic stats for everyone. I expect you will hear good news soon.
