gasenioryear - Thank you for the kind words.

Anyone get anything?
Any scholarships?

@gaonmymind. You are so welcome. I feel the pain for you I would feel, and now offer the advice I would adhere to- you have got to be strong for your child and explain the situation with the gpa and that ********* was just a numbers game that was not in her favor. BUT they do not give all the spots out under ********* because they want to look at others as a whole, and this is your child’s chance to show he/she has the same qualifications as the others already admitted. Many with lower than a 4.0 are now showing higher that a 4.0 simply due to their school’s grading policies. You need to stay POSITIVE for your child- save your being upset for your husband or for us on cc, because of course you are hurt for your child - feel free to pm me- but if you have the right attitude it will help your child move on so that she can take the next step and get into honors. If you act depressed and defeated, she will as well. Time to be strong,Mom! Good luck!

My MyStatus page is showing I received the Charter Scholarship as of today. Does anyone have any experience with this? I applied for the Foundation Fellowship; does receiving the Charter count me out for the FF?

the ********* represents auto admit, but typed as one word. I guess cc thinks it is a bad word. Bless your heart, if you don’t get the letter, then for you, it is a bad word and I guess cc knows best!

Islandboy, my status page also shows charter as of today. I was afraid I have made a cut for fellow potential and was awarded this one, but I do not know that. I know Gibson has a daughter who is a ff, I wonder if she received a different scholarship in December before she got the ff letter? Anyway, I am in the same boat as you and it is a good thing, but I have no idea if this is any indication of being pulled from ff consideration.

“good thing” meaning I do not want to seem ungrateful for any scholarship award. But it is still disappointing if it means fellow chances are gone.

My DS got the charter today. I’m happy because he didn’t apply for the fellows and he wasn’t expecting anything.:)

You wouldn’t think one would disqualify the other, especially since Charter is awarded by admissions and FF by the Honors Program I believe. If auto-admit goes to top 2% of 11,000 or so, that’s 220. Charter is supposed to go to around top 250-275. It almost seems that just about everyone would get Charter and those who received a FF invite would just have their original scholarships just passed down the line. Not really sure though, just speculating.

islandboy - I think you are probably correct about that. First of all because the charters came out right after the auto admits to honors so most likely everyone who got an auto admit got the charter. Plus that seems the way it is at other colleges my DS applied to first you get one and then if you applied for something else you might get that instead of or in addition to the scholarship you first got. Good luck those that applied to fellows!

Not 100% sure if a scholarship ever showed up on my d’s “status page”. To be honest, she was not considering UGA, unless she got the Ramsey/ Fellowship. She can’t recall ever seeing a scholarship listed- but it may have been and she never noticed.

After finals finish, I can try and find out from some of her friends.

I’m in the same situation except my status page says I was awarded the Baldwin scholarship, not Charter - as a FF applicant, does this mean I’m out of the running for FF/Ramsey? Because that is rather disappointing, even though I know any scholarship is better than nothing… Also, does anyone know when the deadline to accept these scholarships is before they “expire”, for lack of a better term?

Good news to everyone with fabulous scholarship offers. These scholarships are awarded by two different departments (Admissions, FF) eg. If students receive the FF/R, the Charter is canceled. External scholarships can stack for FF/R.

I know the deadline for FF/R is usually around May 1. I am thinking the other scholarships will be the same. But, you should confirm that. I have a friends son who was awarded the charter. Don’t think he applied to the FF. He took his time accepting and they increased his award.

@gasenioryear and MD1785
I have 1450 CR+M so maybe that is on the low end. I have 8 AP classes (I counted Econ and Gov as .5 each). Also, where do we see the scholarships? I’m worried I didn’t get any scholarships either ): This is a little discouraging…

Where does it show if you have received a scholarship? I don’t see anything & I was auto admitted to Honors Program. Btw, is honors program a big deal or is it nothing that special?

31 ACT/ 4.00 GPA/ 17 college classes (dual enrollment)

No scholarship as of now. Could be because I’m out of state for tuition purposes. Oh well I hope I get into a private college that will offer me a good fa package then.

I was originally given the Classic Scholarship (1/2 the difference between In-state and OOS tuition or about $9,100), but I just was auto-admitted into the Honors program, and when I looked again at my acceptance letter, it says that I was also given the One UGA Scholarship, which is the whole difference between in-state and OOS (about $18,000).

The two scholarships don’t stack, right? The One will negate the Classic?

I just received a letter to CURO honors scholarship… not sure what this is, anyone know?

Congrats sanguinee!

CURO is the Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities. If you’re pre-anything or if you want to go into any sort of STEM or science field CURO is an excellent opportunity to get into undergraduate research.

I’m a little sad I haven’t gotten anything. I had already guessed I wouldn’t be auto admitted with my 2070 SAT (1400 cr+m) but I thought I would at least get some scholarship with my 4.06 UGA GPA and 4.5 GPA the way my school weights it.
