Honors/Awards Section of app

<p>So I'm wondering what kind of things should go in the honors section of the common app. I know this sounds kinda stupid, but the reason I'm asking this is because I'm not sure if awards in speech and quizbowl would qualify as academic honors. I've placed at the state level in speech twice, and qualified for nationals in quizbowl--would these count?</p>

<p>Or are they looking for something more along the lines of these honors:
boys state
nhs
AP Scholar</p>

<p>I think they count as academic honors/ awards if they’re related to academics - which quizbowl and speech are.</p>

<p>Does perfect attendance count? </p>

<p>It might not seem much but I’ve had perfect attendance for 10 years straight, even though the awards section will only show starting from 9th grade.</p>

<p>I don’t see why anyone would care about perfect attendance. It will just make it look like you’re looking for any award possible to increase the list.</p>

<p>Yeah I get what you’re saying, but out of all my other awards, I just see my perfect attendance as more “impressive” (while getting National AP Scholar isn’t?) because I’ve had it since the 3rd grade.</p>

<p>I wouldn’t think that perfect attendance is more “impressive.” You can list it, but I agree with Grape1…it might come off desperate.</p>
