Went to orientation before AP results were in so son was signed up for honors calc 1. Wound up getting a 4 on AP Calc AB test so is switching to calc 2, but there is a conflict with a required physics class so he can’t get into the honors calc 2, so just wondering if this is s big deal. What will he be missing out on by being in regular calc 2 class. I assume bigger class size but other differences?
No, it’s not a big deal. For many honors classes (including math classes, in my experience), the primary difference is class size. I took calc 3 non-honors because of a conflict, while a friend took the honors section, and there was very little difference. As long as he gets the necessary number of Honors classes elsewhere, don’t worry about it.
Ok thanks. Will let him know.
