Honors Class of 2022

We haven’t received any Honors notification. D was accepted 1/19 and just received her merit scholarship awards.

What is the issue with the Ohio State Honors dorms?

The three honors dorms (one in each area of campus) are the older dorms (i.e. smaller). The newer dorms are usually reserved for sophomores since they get higher priority over freshman. I just looked at the pictures online of the Taylor Tower rooms (north campus honors dorm - and originally the only honors dorm on campus), and they look exactly the same as when I lived there in 1986.

However, remember that living with other honor students means that, in general, when it becomes crunch time for finals, the students will tend to be more respectful with regards to being quiet, studying, etc. You will also be more likely to find other students who are in the same classes with you if you are taking honors classes.

@spaceplanets literally same. I haven’t heard from Honors yet but I heard from OSU in the early December wave. We called like a month ago and they said they had me listed as an Honors applicant. almost EVERYONE I know already heard and I’m getting a little nervous…lol I thought my Honors/Scholars essay was good but I’m worried now

My D was accepted into honors on 2-23.

We were at Buckeye Bound this past Saturday. At the Honors presentation, they said they are still feverishly reviewing honors applications. We were told everyone will hear either way and I think she said it should be by the end of this month. Good luck!

@cosmok did the issue of mandatory honors dorms come up st your sessions? Just curious.

@Meant2B Yes! As a matter of fact, my husband asked the person in charge before the session began if you have to live in honors dorms and she told him yes, and that it’s new this year. But then during the presentation she stated that you must live in an honors dorm UNLESS you are accepted into an LC. She held up a sheet that lists the learning communities, so it sounds like that is an option. But, we were not confident based on her response prior to the session. It sounded like what I have heard on this board that different answers are being given by different people… and then we got two different answers from the same person.

It seemed more official during the presentation when she absolutely said that a learning community was the only other option. Perhaps she and my husband miscommunicated before the session.

Thanks @cosmok They’ve been consistent, honors housing mandatory starting next year, unless living in one of the LCs.

@Meant2B I thought I had read someone was at an honors session recently and they were told honors students specifically had to living in an honors dorm. I may have misunderstood. So it sounds like that is the choice, honors housing or LC.

@cosmok I was at a session where they stated you must live in an Honors dorm unless you live in one of the LLC’s.

Are Honors decisions still coming out? Anyone recently received theirs?

@Banker1 Still waiting on our end…

@Banker1 and @osumom28 Still waiting here too. Hope we hear something soon.

My DD is also waiting for honor news now, does this mean she is not in honor? She got accepted to fisher and her stats are act 33, sat 1540, gpa 4.2.
She was accepted by WashU Olin but no money, do you guys think Olin worth $70k to go over fisher ?

@wingjuer - My understanding is that you are notified either way re Honors. My son had a friend get a denial letter quite awhile ago (Dec?, maybe early Jan?). This kid had similar stats to my son - though I think a point lower on ACT. My son is a 33 ACT and 4.2 gpa, as well. We recently attended Buckeye Bound and participated in the Honors session where they said notifications would continue to go out through the end of April (making it tricky when those Housing contracts come out mid-late March…)

At an honors presentation, we were told that honors applicants get a response either way to let them know whether or not they were accepted. On March 3rd they said they were still reviewing applications and hoped to get through the rest and respond by the end of March.

A friend received a denial email (via regular email) for Honors this weekend. Our son applied earlier and was accepted in an earlier wave than the friend, but we’re still waiting on an Honors decision. Anyone else hear anything?

@osumom28 My son has not heard anything about honors yet.

So if you did not apply for honors on your Fall 2018 application is there no other way of getting into honors?
