I am a sophomore at a mediocre public college with a 3.9 college GPA and 2200-2300 SATs. I am attempting to transfer to a number of schools including Cornell and Georgetown.

I'm in the honors program at my school which is a program that requires you to take 6 "Honors" classes during your time in college. I have taken one already but since I was thinking of transferring, I didn't take any others since they didn't seem like classes that would easily transfer anywhere (Very out-there and unique topics).

However, I found out that one can choose to turn a regular class into an "Honors" class by getting approval and then doing some extra work for the class.

I figured that if I did this, it would give a tiny, tiny edge in admissions because it would show them that I'm trying to challenge myself. However, I just found out that unlike the regular Honors classes, when one turns a regular class into an "Honors" class, there is no indication on the transcript. However, someone I talked to said that they sometimes give out an addendum on a separate pieces of paper that explains that a class was taken as Honors.

I really want to transfer to a better school. Will it help my application at all to take a class as Honors?
