<p>I am currently in Honors English. My school doesn't give extra points to any students if they are in an honors class. They do get an extra point if they are in an AP class. For example, five points if they get an A. For colleges, if I got an A in Honors English, would I get an extra point to raise my GPA for admission?</p>
<p>For commonapp, the school form requires your counselor to explain the Ranking process in your school. So, just remind her to make sure she mentions that on the form and youll be fine</p>
<p>Colleges have their own system. </p>
<p>For example, UC’s don’t weight honors english, biology, chem, alg II, geometry, spanish II, french II, etc. </p>
<p>It won’t matter that your school doesn’t weight it. That means colleges probably won’t either.</p>
<p>At another school, I know that they weigh everything. For example, if you take any honors classes including english, you can get a fifth point. So it won’t matter if someone got all A’s and have a 5.0 GPA from just taking all honors classes while someone else also got all A’s and took all honors classes and got a 4.0 GPA?</p>
<p>It will matter to an extent. This doesn’t mean that someone with one more honors class is immediately admitted over someone with one less. It matters less tangibly, in the sense that colleges look to see that you’ve taken the “most rigorous courseload,” but most colleges care about your unweighted (4.0 scale) GPA at the end of the day.</p>
