Is taking honors classes worth it? The possibility of a lower GPA and all? Or do the schools admissions take note of the fact that it was an honors course? And would it have any of the same effect when applying to law school?

Unless it’s for UCLA’s TAP, I doubt it would worth anything
But then, if you are a student who loves challenges, then why not? You are in a class with (usually) few people, and they must also understand the subject much better than the normal class.
For law school, ask on the graduate school forum: [Graduate School - College Confidential](Graduate School - College Confidential Forums)
