Honors classes

Hi there! I will be a future student at OSU and I ended my senior year with a 4.67 GPA. I am currently in the humanitarian engineering scholars program and plan to double major in physics and astrophysics, however I was wondering whether or not I would be able to take honors classes if I am not in the honors program?

You should have orientation coming up…they can address it in there. You usually have to apply for an honors program (and get accepted) or have tacit approval from your adviser.

I remember hearing that you cannot apply to both Honors and Scholars for freshman year, but if you are a Scholar freshman year, you can apply for Honors as a sophomore. Don’t know about receiving an exception to take honors classes when you are not in the Honors College. It’s worth it to ask. See what your advisor says.

I took honors courses as a non honors student all I had to do was email my teachers about wanting to be moved to their honors class and they agreed. It never hurts to ask also tell them you plan to apply to honors after your first year as a Scholars student so they understand where your coming from.
