Can anyone tell me how to get into honors classes in Tufts? Is it just an option that you can choose during orientation or do you have to take a test (or something)? Particularly, I'm interested in Calc III honors so any information regarding this class would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Um, there are honors classes at Tufts? I don't think so.

haha, im pretty sure every class at Tufts is honors.....thats how awesome they are

Correct! :)

Wait, so then can anybody tell me what this is?

If you scroll down to math 017 or math 018, then it says honors calculus with Nitecki

Here's the description of the one course from SIS:
The first course of the two-semester sequence of honors calculus. Intended for students who have had at least the AB syllabus of advanced placement mathematics in secondary school. Stresses the theoretical aspects of the subject. Beginning with a rapid review of differential and integral calculus, this course continues with a review of transcendental functions and the techniques of integration. The second half of the semester is devoted to the study of sequences, series, and complex numbers. Students who have not received acceleration credit by receiving a 4 or better on an advanced placement exam will nevertheless receive one acceleration credit (without grade) and one course credit (with grade) after successfully completing this course.
Prerequsites:
AB syllabus of advanced placement mathematics. Students who receive credit for Math 17 cannot receive credit for Math 11 or 12.

here's the thing. I understand that you're interested in honors calc, but if you've only taken AB, I would advise you to take regular Math 12. Math 12 is one of the hardest courses at Tufts; it's a weed-out course for engineers. I've taken BC Calc, which covers Math 12 material, and from what I hear of the Math 12 program it's insanely harder than the BC stuff we did. Math 17 looks to be even more difficult - I would suggest taking a few days of Math 12, deciding if you're bored out of your skull, and then switching to Math 17. Otherwise, I'm not sure if I understand such a desire for masochism ;-)

Haha, thanks for the help
