Honors college application deadline: extended or not?

<p>Hi, I have a question regarding the apparent extension to the deadline for the honors college application, namely, is there really an extension? Lol, it seems like VT admission has confirmed that the new deadline is Dec. 8th on their twitter here: <a href="https://twitter.com/FollowMeToVT/status/537620656079523840"&gt;https://twitter.com/FollowMeToVT/status/537620656079523840&lt;/a> and on their website here: <a href="http://www.univhonors.vt.edu/html/admissions.html"&gt;http://www.univhonors.vt.edu/html/admissions.html&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p>

<p>Buuuuuuut when I go onto the actual application it still says "For scholarship consideration, the full application must be COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED by 11:59 PM on December 1st." So which source is correct? </p>

<p>Also, if the deadline is extended to December 8th, does this also mean that the deadline for the recruitment scholarships within the Honors application are extended along with it? I'm talking about the Stamps Leadership Scholarships, Calhoun Scholarships, McNamara Scholarships, etc. The ones who's essays are included as a supplement in the HC application. (I'm assuming those are the scholarships they are referring to when they say "priority recruitment scholarship consideration for incoming freshmen" But, I just want to be sure.)</p>

<p>I had to wait so long to get my Application ID that I could really use a few extra days to polish my essays, but I don't want to submit after Dec. 1st and miss the scholarship window altogether (especially since I'm OOS, I really need the scholarship money for my parents to be able to afford the OOS tuition costs).</p>

<p>Any help is appreciated. I know I asked a lot of questions but any kind of clarification is really appreciated! Thanks!</p>

Go with the “updated” information on the web page. Do a screencap just in case you need to argue the point, but it looks like the online application notice simply isn’t revised to reflect the new date.</p>

<p>I just sent the school an email regarding the same thing tonight. I was so focused on the extension that I missed the academic scholarship deadline for December 1st. I sent my application for the school today and I really hope I don’t have to wait to long for ID. Can you let me know what is needed for the McNamara one so I can get started on it just in case. I would really appreciate it.</p>

<p>December 8 - Freshman University Honors priority application deadline for recruitment scholarship consideration. This deadline has been extended from the original deadline of December 1st due to prior technical difficulties with the Honors application. </p>

<p>I received an email back from the school. The honors application was the only one that was extended. The academic scholarship deadline was still Dec 1st. but she stated</p>

<p>you have not missed out on all scholarship opportunities. Regardless of whether or not you are accepted, you can apply for general and/or departmental scholarships. <p>@collegenj, the info in the email you got appears to be incorrect. I just got off the phone with VT University Honors. The Honors scholarships (Stamps, Calhoun, McNamara, etc) were also extended to Monday, Dec. 8, due to the technical difficulties in accessing the Honors application. My D did not even receive her guest account link until Dec. 2, apparently a problem with others. You may feel more comfortable calling them directly at their number on the link: <a href=“http://www.univhonors.vt.edu”>http://www.univhonors.vt.edu</a>, but they were clear that the Honors and scholarship applications were both extended. Good luck!</p>
